Melaleuca alternifolia -organic- Australia
This is a tree that grows very easily in swamp land in Australia and alongside eucalytpus is in many Australian's first aid cabinets. It has a long history of use by Australian aboriginals especially for disinfecting cuts and wounds.
Tea tree essential oil is a wonderful antiseptic, and is useful for cuts and many skin related complaints. Tea tree has properties including antiseptic, anti-fungal and cleansing.
Like all essential oils it should be applied to the skin diluted in a carrier or use it in a compress for cuts and other skin complaints.
It blends well with native oils, citrus oils, black pepper, clary sage, lavender, lemon, peppermint & rosemary.
It is steam distilled from the leaves.
It will keep for around 2-3 years if stored with lid tightly closed in a cool, dark area. This oil oxidises easily so should not be used on skin if the oil is older than this or if the lid has not been closed tightly.
